Tasting note
Château Haut-Brion's red wine blends Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, each grape variety contributing unique characteristics and functions to the wine.
Merlot plays a crucial role in the blend, typically imparting rich black fruit aromas such as blackberry, black cherry, and blackcurrant. It also provides smooth tannins and structure, allowing the wine to display a gentle and balanced character even in its youth.
Cabernet Sauvignon holds a prominent position in the blend, adding depth and complexity to the wine. This grape variety often brings red fruit aromas, such as red berries and raspberries, along with hints of spices and smokiness. Its firm tannins and long-lasting finish are significant features of the wine.
Cabernet Franc is another important component, contributing layers of aromas and complexity. This grape variety typically brings red and black fruit aromas, such as raspberries, cherries, and red plums, with subtle notes of spices and floral scents. Cabernet Franc's tannins are usually softer than Cabernet Sauvignon, allowing the wine to exhibit elegance and charm, even in its early years.
Lastly, Petit Verdot, though a small part of the blend, plays a vital role in enhancing the wine's depth and structure. This grape variety often brings dark fruit aromas, such as blackberries and blackcurrants, accompanied by hints of spices and earthiness. Petit Verdot's intense tannins also contribute to the wine's aging potential and capability to evolve over time.
The wine selection is exceptional, and the product images are stunning. Highly recommend for wine lovers!
